Report an animal
You found an animal that is lost, injured, or abandoned. Write to us. We answer, really.
This is why Patas Perdidas exists. When we found the first dog, there was no one to call.
What we need to know
Five things. Nothing more.
The photo
A photo of the animal, even if it is not a good one.
The location
Street, zone, or a nearby landmark.
The condition
Whether it looks injured, very thin, frightened, or calm.
Time on the street
How many days it has been there, if you know.
Whether it is in danger
Traffic, other animals, weather, people mistreating it.
How to approach
- Keep your distance and watch. Do not corner the animal.
- Take a photo and note the location.
- Send us the report on WhatsApp.
- If you can wait nearby safely, better. If not, the report already helps.
You can no longer care for your pet
Do not leave it on the street. Write to us first. Together we look for a responsible way out: a foster home or a new family.
Resources and clinics
We gather public information about low-cost spay and neuter clinics, affordable veterinary practices, and the municipal animal welfare centers. Sterilizing is the surest way for fewer animals to end up on the street.
The Municipality of Guatemala offers free weekday veterinary consultations at its animal welfare centers in zones 5 and 21. Check current hours before going.
The law exists
Guatemala has a real animal welfare law. Decreto 5-2017 recognizes animals as sentient beings and created a state unit that receives reports of cruelty and abandonment. Reporting works. The law exists.
